More than just a port of Solex for Android, Solex is a ground-up rewrite of Solex with an emphasis on flexibility and reliability. It's "new", but it's also been field-tested for years.
It's also not completely accurate it to call it a "desktop" app because it can run on most Windows- or Linux-based hand-held devices as well as desktop computers.
Solex has been built with an emphasis on being adaptable to whatever you might need a ground station app to do.
Each vehicle you connect to gets its own settings. Whether you're using Solex with multirotors, VTOLs, fixed-wing planes, or ground vehicles, you can customize nearly everything about the app including the color scheme, flight screen controls, mission editor, and more. You can add custom widgets, customize the telemetry views, add commands to the built-in vehicle terminal, and plug custom mission item types into the mission editor.
If you run into something you want to see customized that isn't now, feel free to reach out.
When you purchase Solex, you get access to all of the platforms it runs on. Whether you run Solex on a hand-held device or a Macbook or a big desktop machine, a single purchase gets you access to all of them.
You'll find features in Solex you don't find in other GCS apps.
Open source is great. It's free to download and you get some flexibility if you want to change how things work.
Solex/Desktop isn't open-source, and it isn't free to download. What it is, is well-supported. And it doesn't cost much. (About the same as 2 dozen eggs as of 2025!)
There's a difference between running into an issue with free/open-source software and being told "PRs welcome!", and being able to contact the developer of the software directly and get a fix quickly. We opt for the latter approach, with a mission of "Give customers what they paid for". The purchase price helps fund Solex's continued development.
Contact us and describe what you're seeing, whether it's an issue with the software, or something you'd like to see work a different way. We're on it!
